Pigs in a Blanket

Got a case of the Mondays??

Me too. Nobody likes mundees (the way your elementary school teachers said Monday, which probably made us all dislike them that much more).

But, I did get to start off this morning with some elementary school teachers and precious little kiddos!

Today was my first official Pacers appearance in downtown Indy at an inner city public school! It was their first day of school, and I (along with another Pacemate and Boomer, the Pacers mascot) to welcome the kids to their first day! How fun!

He's a pretty fungi.

I mean… fun guy.

The Pacers also have a great partnership with Kroger, a popular grocery in the Midwest, who supplies each kid at the school with a brand new backpack! It's too cool…

For school. :)

Truth.

They also have a program where they supply a pair of shoes for each kid, because sometimes these kids will literally hand their shoes over to their parents when they get home so they can wear them to work.

It's so far from the way we grew up, but still so close to home! Sometimes we get so focused on helping the rest of the world, we forget our neighbors need a lot of help too :)

Anyway, it was great to be able to talk to the kids for a couple of hours and get them all excited!

So, backtracking a bit, Saturday night was spent eating mexican carry out, I split a chicken fajita with my sister as a storm was a brewin' over the lake!

Shiz got real really fast when a tornado was spotted not too far from us! So, we all "hit the deck" and shared a blankie in the basement.

No homo.

Lola, of course, insisted on being in the middle. But they booby trapped her anyway. Doesn't it look like there might have been a pile of sticks hiding this hole??

This is our version of pigs in a blanket, if you've ever heard Lola snore, or seen her snout, or seen her midsection for that matter…you'd know why.

After running with dogs/dancing with wolves

It was a BEAUTIFUL, GREEN run!!!

Doesn't this remind you of Fern Gully?! Anyone?!?!?

Me. So rural right now.

Sunday was spent with family. My aunt and uncle came up to the lake, my friends Stuart and Nicole (Nicole just got engaged in South America to a GREAT guy!!! SOOOO excited for them!!!) as well as lots of friends from around the lake (when you live on the lake, your door is always open, good thing we like it that way :)

Midwest at its best.

I think Stuart and Finley are in love.

Everyone wants to meet the brand new stud in our life! So my mom made some delicious "zesty hamburger" soup, and we hosted friends and kissed babies all day! I didn't hate it.

We "didn't eat at the same Mexican restaurant we did last night," then hit the road to come back to Indy!

Apparently, the show tunes and Josh Groban Christmas CD's that populated our stereo during the road trip were not enough to keep Finley pepped after his big weekend with Rita (she's quite a firecracker, you know).

We eventually made it back and after some hardcore canoodling with his papa, Finley and I hit the sack (no not his sack….er…nevermind)…

Today was full of grocery shopping, errand running, waiting in lines, an at-home cross fit inspired workout, and dinner with Justin's grandparents and his aunt!

Cheesecake Factory always lends itself to the BEST lettuce wraps in the world!!!!

They are down here for a surgery that Justin's uncle is having, so keep him in your thoughts!

Hope your mundees improve for tomorrow! Don't wanna be stuck in mundee on tewsdee!
