Daddy Bought It.

I awoke to this face.

Oh child. Please. You woke up at 3AM, puked, ate your own puke, proceeded to try and roam around  the house in the dark by yourself, laid on me half the night, the other half you spent staring at me until I woke up. Haven't you had enough?!

His answer? A simple "Nope!"

You win some and lose some. I lost this one big time, so I dragged myself out of bed and out onto the porch for coffee with the family.

Nothing I love more than quiet mornings at the lake.

So glad ogling over Myles has quickly become part of our morning ritual.

Lovin' being a grandpa.

I mean lovin'

Daddy bought it for me.

After we had enough caffeine and enough lovin' to carry us through the day, my mom made us some smoothies with pineapple and mango to fuel us through a VERY important event.

Shopping.

Mmmmhmmmm!!!! Don't mind me if I just wipe my drool a bit…I might have just bought one tiny little thing…. or one tiny bag full of things…or maybe a medium bag….oops.

We hit the outlet malls hard. Gap, Ralph Lauren, Gymboree, Reebok, and good old Claire's. Listen, you can hate on Claire's if you want, but I swear as much I hate myself for it, I ALWAYS walk out of there having taken full advantage of buy two get one free. I can't help myself.

Refueled at home with a salad (maters, green peppers, paremsan, and red onion)...

And an all America plate with a burger and pickles!

I went on a quick three mile run in the afternoon. I was outta the gate like a thoroughbred! Sprinting and hills and yogging oh my! And then, I realized it was 90 degrees, I had no Finley to run with, and I forgot my iPod.

By the end, the thoroughbred was nowhere in sight.

More like a miserable swayback mule sweating profusely.

Why is it so hhhaaawwww--tttt?!?

After the twerkout,  we showered up and got ready for the wedding of the summer! Our family friends Nora and Austin finally tied the knot! They've been putting it off almost as long as Justin and I have. :)

Mom and Dad ready to party. Check out Dad's mischievous smirk

Mama and me

Dad and I covering our matching cold sores. Keep it classy San Diego. Keep it classy.

It was a beautiful, simple wedding that got right to the point and celebrated the couple at their (and all of our) favorite place- the lake.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Celebration full of food and booze immediately followed.
It was a hog roast… I filled my plate with fresh veggies, barbecue pork, green beans, and pasta salad

I filled my cup with diet coke and rums :)

Good times before the dance floor took us over….No worries folks, there's plenty more pictures where this one came from, but I'll give you a few posts to prepare yourselves, because I'll be honest, things got ugly after this…reallllll ugly.

After we did a little bit of perculating and had had our fill of fun, we headed home for dinner number two.

Tomato soup and pizza….

My late night cravings get a little weird…

Solid way to end the night…

Potato Sacking

Thought since I had a bit of a serious post yesterday, I'd catch you up on the food, fun, frolicking, etc. today :)

I got home from dance Thursday night famished! Holey NBA dances. They are fast. And exhausting! We can dooooo itttt!!!!!

A bit of chicken marinated in homemade Greek dressing with a whole zucchini and a whole sweet potato with a bit of feta mixed and leftover pasta salad in hit the spot.

What's that? Oh no, I didn't share, it was just me eating all of that :)

I got the recipe for the marinade from Tara at Trebleinthekitchen.wordpress.com! She has lots of great healthified recipes if you are looking for some!

After 31/2 hours of dancing and with a full belly I slept like a baby! Good thing because Justin had to get up at 5 this morning, which means we all get up at 5. I don't know about you, but when I know someone in the house is up, it's really difficult for me to go back to sleep.

I finally just said screw it and got up at 6 for no reason and made my new favorite breakfast!

Paleo oats! I'm trying all kinds of new paleo recipes and loving it! It's just a different way of eating, much more protein. Don't expect to see me giving up grains anytime soon though, I'm not that intense.

After a little bit of job searching (putting myself back out there guys… baby steps in the dating world :)…

and Today Show watching,

By the way, speaking of the Today Show, did anyone see this little gem??

http://video.today.msnbc.msn.com/today/48723704#48723704

Good ole' Carmel, Indiana. Best place to live in America. Who woulda thunk?

I stepped out of the house for a strength and conditioning class.

This one had the magic I was missing yesterday! Hallelujah!

I've seen some major gains in my strength lately. I think a lot has to do with getting enough sleep and having more energy, but I've also been trying to alter my diet in two ways…

1.) Drink more water
2.) Eat more protein

I've added about a 16 oz. glass of water first thing in the morning. I'm not a huge water lover, but I make myself drink it before I can have coffee and that does the trick on my psyche.

This hydration alone helps with my energy at the start of my day. It also helps you...

Get Healthy Skin
Flush Toxins
Reduce Your Risk Of Heart Attack
Cushion And Lube Your Joints And Muscles
Get Energized And Be Alert
Stay Regular
Reduce Your Risk Of Disease And Infection
Regulate Your Body Temperature
Burn More Fat And Build More Muscle
Get Well

A lot of bang for your buck, huh?

The second is to eat more protein is because I have a very vegetable and fruit heavy diet, which is great, but it can be very difficult for someone like me who has trouble building muscle anyway to do so! I've added much more chicken, fish, Greek yogurt, and nut butters into my diet recently to try to build lean muscle!

Not that you'll be seeing me in the gun show anytime soon, but I just wanna build strength!

Although I do love me a good AK47 rifle.
(I don't even know what that is.)

Other eats today included a snck of Greek yogurt, mixed nuts and cantaloupe...

A split lunch..

First round, steamed carrots with butter topped with mashed cauliflower! Second round was consumed on my way to the lake- leftover Greek chicken (this shit is even good cold! It's a mer-a-kle!!) and copious amounts of watermelon!

Hmmm... Chicken and watermelon... No comment.

I then headed north with this in my rearview

I'd say someone was a bit excited to get to the lake :)

Happy as a clam.

and the Jimmy buffet station on pandora :)

We were thrilled to get there after a long drive, and were welcome by a glass of Pinot Noir. I don't hate it.

Our family spent most of the night on the porch catching up and letting the dogs get all of their energy out, before we headed inside to grill up some chicken!

Evening swim for the gents and ja lady!

A feast of salad, corn on the cobb, and grilled barbeque chicken. Trying to get in as much summer as we can before fall, although I do love everything about fall as you probably know :)

There was much talk of baby as we winded down..

And much potato sacking gently holding the baby.

Guess once you get pass the 1 month mark, things get a little more relaxed…ha!

Wasn't long before our sweet tooth (sweet teeth?) were insatiable and we had to hit up Zesto's for our daily dose of sugar.

I got a banana split that turned into banana soup by the time we got home… Wah-wahhhh….

It is H-O-T this weekend and I'm thrilled that we finally got my dad to turn the air on…

It will be a restful night's sleep after all...

A Life Worth Living

Nothing sexier than the smack of a retainer as you ever so slyly slide into bed next to your lover…

That's where we left off in case you were wondering where I was going. The next morning started out ambitious and full of promise!

I began with a bowl full of pears, cherry Greek yogurt, cinnamon, and cereal for crunch!

I headed out for a spin class with most pregnant woman in the world. She's due this weekend... Mind you, this was Thursday. Yikes.

Needless to say, it wasn't exactly high intensity for fear her water would break. Bless her heart.

This brings up the question- what makes a great group fitness class?

For me, it's three things-

1.) Upbeat or intense music with an instructor that stays with the beat. This can make a HUGE difference! The right music can get me through the toughest workouts!

2.) An instructor that cues consistently but motivates too! Nothing will make the workout go slower than someone who has a vocabulary of " down two, up two" and counting reps. Yuck. Give me someone who says things like, "remember what you came to achieve!" or "push now or regret later, you've got this!"

Cheesy and over the top over repetitive any day!

3.) An instructor who really does the workout with you, and who actually let's on that they are feeling it too! A stone cold steve Austin who doesn't feel anything after the 200th rep just makes me feel badly that my quads are crying.

Hate group or love it, there's something magically motivating about a room of people working together perfectly in sync. I guess that's why after 25 years, I'm still a dancer :)

Most recent picture of my dance skills (close in ability to my numb chuck skills)…

But to get a little serious, I do feel so blessed that I still have dance to completely change how any day may be going... especially on days like yesterday. If you've been reading for a while, you know that I've had about 2 months of hardcore job searching.

It's been like dating, and I'm being completely serious. You put yourself out there and check out "opportunities" that may be a good long term fit for you. You flirt a bit, get to know them, and maybe they ask you out to dinner, maybe not.

Maybe you fall a bit harder than you expected to, and find yourself stalking their Facebook page, asking everyone you know about them, and spending a ridiculous amount of time getting to know them, and trying to establish if you two could really have a future together.

Then, maybe one day, you find out they have chosen someone else, and you soon find yourself bawling over your salad at lunch with your sister because you really thought this was "it."

I guess you could say I "fell in love" with an incredible company and we broke up yesterday.

It's these times I always seem to be handed a reminder from someone, be it God, Buddha, or Oprah for all I know, that speaks to the exact situation I am in. In hopes that maybe this will help you with any struggle you too may be having, here's a section of one of my favorite blogs from yesterday...

We often focus on what we want and what we don’t have rather than what we do have and what we already achieved.
You’ve likely achieved some kind of a goal you had in your mind for yourself to get you to the point where you are in your life right now.
Maybe you can’t find a job right now… or maybe your job totally sucks. Well, you did graduate from college and that’s a pretty awesome achievement. I bet there was a point you were just hoping to get into a certain college. And that sucky job? It will help you gain experience to apply to your next job.
The example my pastor gave related to salaries. Once you get that raise you’ve been coveting, you’re happy, but it doesn’t take too long before you want more… and more… and more.
That’s great… on some levels. Being ambitious and setting goals is incredibly important. Working hard is important.
But so is recognizing your success and enjoying the little everyday successes. Take time to recognize the amazing relationships you have with your sister, husband, children or friends that you work hard to make a priority in your life. Feel proud of the degree you busted your butt to obtain a few years ago. Pat yourself on the back for making it to the gym four times last week. Acknowledge the positive feedback you got from your boss on Monday.
Celebrating the success and achievements we have in our lives is so important. Making goals is important. But being blinded by these goals can be destructive and cause us to miss out on enjoying the rewards of our hard work and the success that comes our way because of our efforts.
There’s always a better job, more money or someone achieving something amazing that you only dream of achieving, but if we only focus on what we don’t have, we’ll miss out on all of the blessings and successes that are right in front of us every single day.

I realize this is quite a lengthy "quote." ha! I just put quote in quotes! However, I think it's worth reading and thinking about. How many times do we want more, (think we) need more, or don't feel satisfied that our lives right now are ENOUGH just as they are.

So, although I'm allowing myself to feel disappointed, today is a day that I'm also grateful for:

A proud dad that always believes in me more than I believe in myself.

A wise and soft hearted mom who always knows what to say.

A sister who gets me, who loves me and laughs with me (and doesn't make me feel awkward for crying at lunch :)

It totally looks like you're naked in this pic. Kara! You're welcome :)

A fun-loving brother who never fails to make us laugh until we pee a little…

Not to mention a brand new nephew who looks at you and makes you believe everything is right in the world.

Ummmm…no words.

Yazz flute :)

A partner who knows me better than I know myself and loves me despite my weirdness, who doesn't just let me act 12, but will act 12 with me so I don't feel stupid.

Friends who are ambitious, endlessly thoughtful, and wildly inappropriate :) Past, present, and future I love you all.

A crazy dog who I absolutely adore because he loves life and makes me laugh every single day.

A life worth living.

I hope that today despite any disappointments, arguments, frustrations, or stresses you may have, that you remember just how lucky you really are.
