Muthahood.

I'm so hood. Muthahood that is.

Holy moly being a mom can be exhausting! And exciting! and fun! and a pain in the butt all at the same time!

Why did nobody tell me?

Oh wait…EVERYBODY told me. You just don't get it until it's your own "child."

We've spent the past few days with every ounce of our energy and attention spent on getting our little baby dog a good, solid start in his new home.

In order to prevent chewing/peeing/pooping/choking/anything we basically have to watch him every minute! It really is like a toddler. And he's SO interesting in EVERYTHING!

Yet, it's soooo adorable.

He's got that little awkward puppy gallop, and playful puppy pounce, and nostalgic puppy breath. He's probably my favorite thing that's ever happened :)

So, we've been really trying to channel the dog whisperer and use the "cchhh" method. He definitely knows that "cchh" means he better watch it, and if he keeps it up, he will get grabbed in the scruff (we figured that was most like his other mom would handle it and she's a pretty rad bitch.

We're learning :)

It's hard not to feel like you're disciplining all the time, but it's really necessary for him to know who's boss the first week. No worries, we have been giving him PLENTY of lovin'.

So deprived.

Plenty of treats, plenty of belly rubs, and praise. Believe me, the baby is spoiled. As it should be, as long as he minds us.

He's even allowed on the couch, but only when we invite him.

Aunt Kara even sent us an ENTIRE BOX full of toys! We were soooo excited! But we're saving some of them, right Finn???

My past few days have been spent working about 6AM to 4PM, then coming home and spending every ounce of energy on Finley and giving him all he needs. Food, cuddles, water, play, poop, nap, repeat. Nights are pretty low key, as I hate leaving my baby even if to run out and grab some food, so I've been cooking a lot.

Finn loves being in the kitchen with me. His two favorite things right now are laying right in the refrigerator when it's opened even if only for a second and also trying to climb in the dishwasher. Dishes are def. his favorite chore.

He's a regular Martha Stewart.

He's also a regular tard. He's seriously such a weird, I love it. He loves to stick his head fully into Justin's smelly old tennis shoes.

Seriously Sir Finigus?

Yep. He LOVES those things. What a weirdo!!

He also loves to lay on the table.

He definitely is a fan of eating plants and dirt. Which is a challenge since our backyard has not one bit of grass in it, but is allllll leaves and dirt. So, that's cool to be pulling leaves out of his mouth every two seconds and putting  toy in it instead.

But I have to admit, he looks unbelievably adorable with dirt all over his snout. I wish I could say the same about Justin.

And on my final note, in honor of Finn making me belly laugh because of his antics, here is a video my friend Sophi (blowphi) shared with me!

Now it's time to get to bed, because it's my turn to let the little man out every waking hour tonight :)

Sir Finigus.

Well, hiiiii!!!!!!!
I'm Finley! Finley Oliver/Hoosier (undecided) Adams. Pleased to meet cha! :)

We headed to pick up this little munchkin at 6AM this morning and met the breeders in Kissimmee. We were sooooo excited and soooo nervous! We were becoming parents for the first time!

So, obviously, we needed a breakfast of champions.

McDonalds. Or M.C. Donalds (the classy version) as Justin accidentally said it this morning. That had me rolling to tears.

Then we were off to meet him, and boy was he so excited to meet us too!

I had no idea how it would feel. I am the proudest mama that ever lived. I just feel like my heart is in my stomach today. I cannot stop smiling. I can't even imagine the day I have my first baby if I'm like this over my first puppy! He is soooooo sweet and he loves kisses like no other! He's very submissive like Jackson, luckily the breeder gave him a great start and he already just rolls over and lets you do whatever you want, even check his teeth and claws! Plus, he is already learning how to sit! Smarty pants! He gets it from his mom :)

Of course after the excitement of meeting your mom and dad for the first time comes the crash.

Aw, look at his sweet little face.

Our new little family!!! :) :) :)

What a sweet little babe!

Got our treats, vitamins, flee brush, water pale, AKC papers, and we're ready to take him home!

And off we gggoooo!!!

Wow, mom what's all this?!?

I'm having so much fun! cars and bags and a new family all in one day?!

Uh oh, too much excitement again.

snuggies.

Finny ti ti.

He was feeling very Martha's Vineyard today apparently :)

Back to the bag…. he loves it.

When we got to Tampa, we got to explore the whole house! We had wayyy too much fun. He was fascinated with mirrors (adorable), electrical cords (not so cute), the refrigerator (we knew he was a fat kid at heart), and eating plants and dirt (cute but not exactly convenient). It's definitely our old lab Bailey reincarnated (I was hoping it was) because he tried to climb into the dishwasher (Bailey used to do that as a puppy). He's been playing and napping with mommy all day waiting for daddy to come back home. We even had lunch together :)

So far, he's only peed once inside and twice outside and pooped once on accident inside and starting to squat inside, then I took him outside and he pooped right away, so I rewarded him and hopefully we're on the right track now! I'll give him a free pass on the first day :) Only because he's the sweetest and smartest dog I've ever met. Seriously, I'm not just saying that.

ooo ja baby doggg!!

He found a favorite place under our table. This is his third nap here today believe it or not.

Oh the life of a lab.

I'm in love.

Labrador love,
Brittany, Justin, and Finley

Im bout to be a puppy mama.

I'm vaclempt. Im becoming a mutha to the most handsome man in all the world (tied with Jackson of course)- a little lab the color of sunshine. Finley. Discuss.

I got my puppy bag packed up,

(paper towels in case of an accident, old towels, toys, collar, love)

the crate up right,

I can't wait to meet him with all my might!

Ohhh, Finley dog, Finley dog, Finley dog!!

We leave for Kissimmee at 6am tomorrow to meet our breeder and puppy for the first time. Then he gets to come back home with us!!! Well be one big happy family- me, Justin, fin, and cheese (rest in peace Mac). I can't even think about it without peeing my pants in anticipation.

Let me show you just how much I'm soooo ready for this.

Oh hey! His bowls are out and ready and look so cute and retro against our 1970s floor.

Oh hey again. Collar  #1 for when he's feeling nautical and playful.

Collar #2 for when he's feeling very Martha's vineyard. I just have a feeling he'll have a passion for Main lobster because of this look.

Look #3. For when he's feeling dapper and classy. You know, when he wants to step it up a notch for the ladies.

Speaking of ladies…
Check out this awesome get up that Justin's mom sent us today addressed to Finley Adams :) :) :)

Let's get this straight Jodi. He will only be wearing this shirt when I walk him. Justin with a yellow lab puppy will attract enough hot chicks as it is.

She also sent an adorable collar! This one will be when he's feeling very Frank Sinatra, houndstooth, classic. Plus an awesome squeaky ball that we can throw for him annnnndddd a gift card to PetSmart which is right below my store!!!! Can't wait to take him in and spoil him even more!!!

Now's probably not a good time to mention all the toys that he already has waiting for him at home…

Oops.

Oh ya, and THIS guy's my favy!! Look how precious that face is! It will look even more presh next to ja puppah's!!

Ok, now that I'm realizing that this post has been obnoxiously about tomorrow's big homecoming, so let me fill you in on my actual day.

Today was a great, fun day at work!

I made an impossible to please customer happy, I had some fun with my co-workers, and my dad, aunt Stevi, and cousin Michael came to visit me at work when they flew into the Tampa airport! Such a solid day…

Fueling my day was the following:

Plus a soup and salad, turkey jerky, raspberries, and ice cream! Man I'm on an ice cream kick! Lovin' it.

Alright, I gotta run because it's bed time! Puppy pick up day requires a 5:30am wake up call!!!!

Woop woop!

Nighty night!!! :))))
